Great bird! – January 2020

January 19th at San Miguel del Monte, Buenos Aires:

Terry, Gary, Barbara and Peter a single species top of their list: South American Painted Snipe. Terry and I walked through the redes, our boots deepening the mud, while the other where above us: looking from the bridge, and suddenly Peter: “Flying right!” The bird landed after a very short flight, and gave good views. A second bird also flew and allowed very close views.

Great bird! (many thanks to Diego Oscar and Hernan Tolosa)

Wonderful day – December 2019

Great to meet you yesterday and thank you for a wonderful day of birding. We really enjoyed seeing some of the country side of Argentina.

48 hours of stupendous birding - November 2019

I had only two days to bird in the area around Buenos Aires. Diego put the short trip together, with lots of helpful logistics emails in advance, and we were then off to the races. We saw about 150 birds, visited numerous wonderful and very different habitats, and had an incredibly easy, comfortable and fun experience. It was just the two of us. Immediate sense of camaraderie – excellent English – totally reliable and trustworthy , price sensitive – I had no qualms turning it all over to Diego.
Diego has an easy temperment and personality and nothing got in the way of our pursuit of the maximum number of birds. A truly enjoyable experience. Highly recommended. I plan to do a Norther Argentina trip in the not-too-distant also with Diego.

The best birdwatching holiday – November 2019

Diego:

You have made this the best birdwatching holiday we have ever been on. Not only was your expertice magnificent, but you were delightful company and unremittingly kind and patient. We saw far more birds than we could have ever imagined possible.

Thank you, Jill and David.

If I could say six stars, I would! – February 2017

I found Diego’s contact in BirdingPal. I left him an email, asking for a guided day trip and got immediate response. I explained him my preferences, and we had an offer!

We went to Entre Rios. The package includes pick up at the hotel, drive, guide, coffee, snacks, drinks, and most of all: excellent bird watching, including a tailor made checklist. Diego is a great guide, who knows the birdlife inside. If you want to make the most of your time and see the maximum number of birds, learn about them, or take photos: Diego will make it happen! If I could say six stars, I would!

Paul and Barbara, top US birders in Buenos Aires
February 2015

“Our day around Ceibas was indeed one of the very best of the entire cruise trip, and we had a lot of good days.” (Paul).

Paul Lehman is a very well known birder, former guide for Wings and an expert in bird distribution maps. Barbara Carlson is also very keen, holding the record for a Big Year in a single County in the US, with 388 birds in San Diego County in 2014.

We certainly had “great time” as Paul reported, and this of course was due mostly -but not only- for the excellent birding.

Very enjoyable day – May 2014

We are now back home in Australia and we have been looking at our South American bird sightings. We would like to let you know that we had a very enjoyable day with you at Otamendi Nature Reserve and other places enroute and the information you gave us proved to be extremely helpful with the birding we did on our own during the rest of our holiday.
We would like to thank you very much for your expert guiding, for your friendly and wide-ranging conversation and for the great picnic lunch. We would be very happy to recommend you to other visiting birdwatchers and we wish you every success for the future.

Yours sincerely, Grahame and Robyn Elliott

Memorable birding experience – October 2013

Hi Diego, This is a quick note to let you know how much we enjoyed our memorable birding experience in & around Buenos Aires.

We saw so many wonderful birds and we especially enjoyed your birdwatching pace – it was fast enough to see a great variety of birds but also slow enough to allow us to really observe the birds, their markings and their behaviors.

Thank you!! Best wishes and good birding!!

Two wonderful days – May 2013

Diego guided us for 2 days in the vicinity of Buenos Aires. In that short time we saw 82 species, most of which we never would have found ourselves.

Diego was extremely knowledgeable about the area birds, knew where to locate difficult-to-find species, and knew all the bird calls (a necessity for finding many of them). He also was very congenial and a most pleasant person with whom to spend the two days. He brought delicious lunches and snacks that we greatly enjoyed. All in all we had 2 wonderful days of birdwatching with Diego.

Superb start Dec 2012

Superb start – December 2012

We wish to thank you for a superb start to what turned out to be a wonderful visit to Argentina. We were extremely lucky with accommodation, people and birds. You have a marvellous country with exceptional people. I do not know anywhere else in the world where we have received such a warm welcome and such willingness to help strangers.

Our very best wishes and thanks, and if you ever decide to come to Scotland, you have a place to stay with us. Diego did a heroic job of getting us back to the hotel during the rain storm.

A brilliant morning´s birding - February 2013

"Thanks for the list of birds seen last Monday and for a fantastic morning’s birding. Once again, many thanks for a brilliant morning of birding."

Great birding I really enjoyed

Great birding, I really enjoyed – October 2012

Just wanted to thank you again for the great birding the last two days. I really enjoyed it. We did the city bus tour today and saw Harris’ Hawk in the botanical gardens.

Tomorrow morning we are heading to Costanera Sur for birds and some local crafts in the park near there. I’ll let you know my final count but right now I think I saw 105 species…not bad for 1 1/2 days!

More than 40 new species

More than 40 new species – March 2012

I enjoyed today very much! I think we saw about 49 species, 40 or slightly more were new for me on this day trip. THAT does not happen for me anymore, since I rarely travel outside the US. So, I had a great time! But, as well, I really enjoyed your company and your very kind guiding. I look forward to some other trips with you,
