I am Diego Gallegos, a professional birding guide in Buenos Aires since 1984. I provide birding tours in Buenos Aires and all over Argentina.
In 1973, when I was 12, W. H. Hudson´s “Far Away and Long Ago” fell into my hands. The birds, the nature and the people in those pristine pampas of 1850 were depicted so vividly that I was forever hooked.
Time passed, and in 1984, I got my university degree in Biology (equivalent to a BSc). I worked many years as the manager of the traditional Aves Argentinas and at the same time, I was called to guide my first group of birdwatchers.
Since then, I led many groups from abroad. More recently, due to Internet, I developed strongly the business of birders that come from all around the world. Meet some of them in the Testimonials page!
In 2010 we created the Buenos Aires Bird Club with a friend, to promote birding among local birders. We have outings every month, increasingly booked by foreign travellers too.
Married to a biology teacher, we live with our four kids in San Isidro, a suburb of Buenos Aires. We spend our spare time in the countryside and we really enjoy travelling around Argentina and neighbour countries.
